Past Events
- October 3, 2009. Habitat Humanity Build Day with North Shore Habitat for Humanity. EWB had a fabulous time knocking apart furniture, drywall, and ceiling tiles and removing old appliances from a condemned Victorian house in Peabody. The house will be rennovated to provide affordable housing for 2 families.
- September 27, 2009. EWBers helped transform an abandoned lot in Mission Hill into a park, a project initiated by Shawmut Springs Church and the Urban Ecology Institute. We pulled weeds, planted plants, laid mosaic tiles, and straightened up the yard. It was a big success and good to give back to our local area.
- Northeastern University's Human Rights Week. March 23-26, 2009. EWB helped sponsor this week along with many other groups on campus. In particular, we hosted a Trivia Night on the subject of human rights.
- 63rd Annual Boston Public Schools Citywide Science Fair. March 7, 2009. EWBers judged science projects in engineering and biology. It was a lot of fun and the projects were impressive.
- Home Energy Efficiency Team (HEET) Barnraising in Cambridge. March 1, 2009. Charlotte checked out this new group in Cambridge to see if it would be something EWBers would want to help out with in the future and helped weatherize a home. Learned about Q-lon and door sweeps, programmable thermostats, and many other things.
- Concord Snow Day at the Trustees of Reservations. EWBers volunteered at a community snow day sponsored by the Trustees, which included snowball-throwing contests, snowshoe races, and snow sculpting. By day's end there was a small army of snow people guarding the house.
